Lights, Camera, Trump
Harry Bruce
Among the barrage of tariffs unleashed by the Trump administration was a 100 per cent tariff on international films, which meant it could cost twice as much to get an Australian film distributed and exhibited in the US market. Further complicating the issue is the multinational nature of much film pre-production, production and post-production. In Queensland about 6,000 jobs rely on the film industry, generating some $500 million per year for the state’s economy.
