In August ASIO reported that it believed Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was behind antisemitic attacks in 2024 on Lewis Continental Kitchen in Sydney, the Adass Israel Synagogue in Melbourne and likely on other Jewish interests. The Australian Government reacted by expelling an ambassador for the first time since the Second World War and listing IRGC as a terrorist organisation.
