Captain Cook's statue is being pulled down by protestors. A policeman asks, 'Why now after 200 years or more?' A protestor responds, 'It's because of that Aboriginals have suffered 200 years or more'.

2020 marked the 250th year since Captain James Cook’s arrival in Australia. While protests about the resulting colonisation had been expected, the global Black Lives Matter movement gave added impetus to the demonstrations here. Statues commemorating historical figures associated with the oppression of Black and First Nations peoples were defaced or removed in many cities around the world. Eastwood, an Aboriginal artist and cartoonist, comments here on the ongoing impact of colonialism on First Nations communities.
