Barnaby Joyce’s return to the Nationals leadership created complications for the Prime Minister, who wanted to take a plan for net zero emissions by 2050 to the COP26 summit. Joyce has been quoted as saying that such a commitment will cost regional communities more than the cities. Scott Morrison nevertheless succeeded in getting the Nationals to agree to the plan.
