The Mask

A woman has a mask hanging from her ear. The lower half of her face has spots, facial hair and she has fangs. Text reads, 'The other reason to continue wearing a mask'.

Facemasks became ubiquitous in much of Australia as the pandemic took hold, but mask mandates were rolled back as the vaccination rates in the community increased. Even when infection rates of the Omicron strain started to climb in late 2021, public health authorities were reluctant to mandate mask-wearing. Instead they only strongly recommended their use.
