Exec's Baggage

Alan Joyce in a suit and glasses collects colourful 'Exec's baggage' from a Qantas flight airport conveyor belt. Bags include 'Latest profits' and 'COVID bail-out'.

Following a record pre-tax profit for Australian airline Qantas, its outgoing CEO, Alan Joyce, was handed a large pay packet and bonus. However, the end of his tenure was marred by a series of scandals. It emerged that in 2022 Qantas had erroneously charged thousands of customers for flights that had already been cancelled. The Transport Workers Union suggested that COVID payouts to Qantas may have been misused. And the opposition accused the government and the airline of blocking competition.
