Untitled

A female-symbol, upright, ends in a hand which grips a male symbol. The male's extended fist is covered in blood. At the base of the painting are many overlapping female symbols.

Unusually for David, there is no title to this cartoon. It is not needed. At a time when thousands of women were marching in the streets protesting the surge in homicides, and a national crisis was declared by the government, he creates an image of women’s solidarity against a confronting dark and bloody background. This is a masterly portrayal of the angry mood that mobilised these public protests.
