Fuelling Division

Jim Pavlidis
Days before Jim Pavlidis published this cartoon, Treasurer Jim Chalmers accused Peter Dutton of fuelling ‘division’ when he called for a ban on refugees from Gaza, citing security risks. Former Liberal leader John Hewson said it was a similar strategy to those used by former Prime Ministers John Howard, Tony Abbott and Scott Morrison. Despite the zeros in this cartoon, Peter Dutton’s opinion poll ratings rose soon afterwards.
