Drover's Dog

A blue dog is on the ground at 'Drover's Dog School'. Two faceless men hold a sign, 'Tax cuts for the rich'. They say to the dog, 'Roll Over!' and, 'He's as ready as he'll ever be.'

Jon Kudelka’s cartoon takes aim at Labor leader Anthony Albanese. So called ‘faceless men’ — behind-the-scenes powerbrokers — urge support for Labor’s new tax policy. The ‘Drover’s Dog School’ is a reference to a comment by former party leader Bill Hayden, who made way for Bob Hawke before the 1983 election. Hayden famously said that even ‘a drover’s dog’ could win the election.
