Won't Somebody Think of the Children?

A mother and son arrive at a 'Support group'. There are a group of people sitting in a circle in the room, one says, 'Yes, this is for the families of MPs who've left politics in order to spend more time with them'.

With the fallout from the Royal Commission into the Robodebt Scheme and normal parliamentary resignations, 2023 saw three politicians vacating their seat in federal parliament: former MPs Alan Tudge and Stuart Robert, and former senator Marise Payne. In this cartoon, Fiona Katauskas suggests that the families of these MPs might need a support group as they try to deal with a former politician wanting to spend more time with them.
