First Dog on the Moon
The text-dense panel format employed by First Dog on the Moon rewards the patient reader. In this cartoon our narrator, Fiona, the underemployed bettong, presents an Orwellian black comedy starring ‘Mark’, a Victorian welfare recipient whose Jobseeker payments were suspended while he was in hospital recovering from brain surgery. ‘Mark’s’ plight was revealed in a report published in The Guardian in March.
