In the most significant upheaval to work practices this century, millions of office staff around the world began to work from home. The novelty of not commuting to an office soon wore off as the reality of countless hours spent in video-based meetings set in. Communications company Zoom became one of the pandemic’s few winners as the number of people using it rose from 10 million in December 2019 to 300 million by late April 2020.
