The Parra-Chute

Andrew Charlton 'parra-chutes' down, while a man says to two children, 'Work hard your whole life and one day all this could be his'. A sign says 'Welcome to Parramatta'.

Andrew Charlton, the Labor candidate for Parramatta, moved to the western Sydney electorate shortly before the election was called. He managed to hold the seat with a 1 per cent swing to Labor. Johannes Leak suggests an unfairness in this process, whereby local candidates could be overlooked. When Kristina Keneally, former Opposition Spokesperson for Home Affairs, was parachuted into nearby Fowler, she lost to local independent Dai Le.
