When tickets went on sale for Taylor Swift’s 2024 Eras tour in Australia, fans scrambled to secure a spot in the crowd. First Dog on the Moon contrasts the urgency of ‘Swifties’ with the general apathy shown towards dire news about rising sea levels. The IPCC Synthesis Report released in 2023 says that because of global warming, even if all carbon emissions were to end tomorrow, sea levels will rise significantly over the next 100 years, owing to a lag effect.
