Newly appointed Governor-General Sam Mostyn takes a specky on the Prime Minister’s back in this cartoon marking the announcement of Australia’s 28th governor-general. Only the second woman to serve in the role, Mostyn was appointed an officer of the Order of Australia in 2021 for distinguished service to business, the community and women. She was also the first woman to serve on the AFL Commission where she was a prominent advocate of the AFL Women’s competition. The competition’s best and fairest award is named after her.
